Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our team will receive you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Hotel check-in begins at 12:00 PM. If you arrive earlier, you may leave your luggage at the hotel and spend some time exploring the nearby streets while your room is being prepared.
Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal, is a fascinating blend of ancient temples, bustling markets, and rich cultural heritage. You can relax after your journey or explore the nearby Thamel area, which is well known for its cafés, restaurants, trekking shops, and lively atmosphere.
In the evening, we will gather at the hotel for a detailed trek briefing. You will meet your trekking guide and fellow trekkers while we walk you through the itinerary, conduct a gear check, discuss altitude safety, and answer any questions before beginning the adventure.
Today, we begin our journey towards the Manaslu region with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola. Leaving the busy city behind, the road follows winding mountain highways, terraced hillsides, traditional villages, and beautiful river valleys.
As we travel alongside the Trishuli River and later the Budhi Gandaki River, the scenery gradually changes from bustling towns to peaceful countryside. Along the way, we pass small villages, waterfalls, suspension bridges, and lush green hills that provide a wonderful introduction to rural Nepal.
The final section of the drive follows a rugged mountain road before reaching the riverside village of Machha Khola, the starting point of our trek. After checking into our tea house, we can relax and prepare for our first day on the trail.
Today marks the beginning of our trekking adventure. The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River through beautiful forests, rocky paths, and several small villages. Along the way, we cross a number of suspension bridges and pass natural hot springs before continuing further into the valley.
As the trail gradually climbs higher, we walk through cultivated farmland, riverside villages, and narrow mountain paths carved into the hillside. The sound of the rushing river remains our constant companion throughout much of the day.
By afternoon, we arrive at the picturesque village of Jagat, where permits are checked before entering the restricted Manaslu Conservation Area. Jagat is a traditional stone-built village with narrow lanes, beautifully paved pathways, and impressive mountain surroundings. After checking into our tea house, we can enjoy a well-earned rest before tomorrow's trek.
After breakfast, we continue deeper into the Manaslu region. Today's trail passes through beautiful forests, traditional villages, cultivated terraces, and several suspension bridges as we steadily gain altitude.
We pass through the villages of Salleri, Philim, and Ekle Bhatti before continuing towards Deng. As we move higher, the landscape begins to change, and signs of Tibetan Buddhist culture become increasingly visible through prayer flags, mani walls, and small monasteries.
The valley gradually becomes narrower, while the surrounding mountains appear larger and more dramatic. Upon reaching Deng, we check into our tea house and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by the quiet beauty of the Himalayas.
Today, we continue following the Budhi Gandaki River as the trail winds through dense forests of pine and rhododendron. Several suspension bridges and gentle climbs lead us through traditional mountain villages where Tibetan culture becomes even more prominent.
As we approach Namrung, the landscape becomes increasingly spectacular. Snow-covered peaks begin appearing more frequently above the forests, while beautifully carved mani walls, chortens, and colourful prayer flags line the trail.
Namrung is one of the most beautiful villages along the Manaslu Circuit and offers magnificent views of Ganesh Himal, Himal Chuli, and the surrounding mountain ranges. After checking into our tea house, there is time to relax and enjoy the peaceful Himalayan atmosphere before continuing towards higher elevations.
Today, we continue our journey towards Sama Gaon, passing through the traditional villages of Lho and Shyala, where Tibetan culture, ancient monasteries, and spectacular mountain views create an unforgettable experience.
As we gain altitude, the forests gradually give way to more open alpine landscapes. The views become increasingly impressive, with Mount Manaslu dominating the skyline alongside Himal Chuli, Ngadi Chuli, and several surrounding peaks.
By afternoon, we arrive at Sama Gaon, one of the largest and most important villages in the Manaslu region. Surrounded by majestic mountains and traditional stone houses, Sama Gaon provides an ideal place to rest and acclimatize before heading towards the higher elevations of the trek. After checking into our tea house, you can spend the evening exploring the village or simply enjoying the spectacular mountain scenery.
Today is an important acclimatization day to help your body adjust to the increasing altitude before crossing Larkya La Pass. Rather than remaining inactive, we will take a short hike to higher elevation before returning to Sama Gaon for the night.
One of the most popular options is a hike to the beautiful Birendra Lake, a stunning glacial lake located beneath the dramatic slopes of Mount Manaslu. Those looking for a longer excursion may continue towards Pungyen Gompa, an ancient monastery offering incredible views of Manaslu Glacier and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
Throughout the day, our experienced guide will monitor everyone's health and encourage a slow, steady pace. After returning to Sama Gaon, the remainder of the day is free to relax, explore the village, visit the local monastery, or simply enjoy the peaceful mountain surroundings while preparing for the higher sections of the trek ahead.
After a relaxing acclimatization day, we continue our journey towards Samdo. Today's walk is shorter, allowing our bodies to adjust gradually to the increasing altitude while enjoying the spectacular mountain scenery.
The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River through wide alpine landscapes with fewer trees as we move higher into the Himalayas. Along the way, we pass ancient mani walls, colourful prayer flags, and grazing yaks, while the surrounding mountains become even more impressive.
By early afternoon, we arrive at the traditional Tibetan village of Samdo, located just a few kilometres from the Tibetan border. The village offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and provides another excellent opportunity for acclimatization before crossing Larkya La Pass. Spend the evening relaxing, exploring the village, or enjoying the peaceful mountain atmosphere.
Today, we make our way to Dharamshala, also known as Larkya Phedi, the final stop before crossing the highest point of the trek. Although the distance is relatively short, the steady climb and increasing altitude make it important to walk slowly and conserve energy.
The trail gradually ascends through rocky alpine terrain while offering magnificent views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. As vegetation becomes sparse, the landscape transforms into a dramatic high-mountain environment of glaciers, rugged cliffs, and wide valleys.
We will reach Dharamshala by early afternoon, allowing plenty of time to rest and prepare for tomorrow's challenging crossing of Larkya La Pass. An early dinner and a good night's sleep are recommended, as we will begin trekking before sunrise.
Today is the most exciting and rewarding day of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. We will begin our hike before sunrise to make the most of the favourable morning weather while crossing Larkya La Pass (5,160 m).
The climb to the pass is gradual but demanding due to the high altitude. As we reach the summit, we are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Manaslu, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, Annapurna II, and many other surrounding Himalayan peaks. Colourful prayer flags mark the top of the pass, making it a memorable place to celebrate this incredible achievement.
After spending time at the pass, we begin a long descent towards Bimthang. The landscape changes dramatically as we descend past glaciers, alpine meadows, and rocky mountain terrain before reaching greener valleys once again.
By late afternoon, we arrive at the picturesque village of Bimthang, surrounded by magnificent snow-covered peaks. After checking into our tea house, the remainder of the evening is free to relax and reflect on one of the most unforgettable days of the trek.
After breakfast, we begin our descent through beautiful forests, alpine meadows, and peaceful mountain valleys. As we lose altitude, the landscape gradually changes from alpine landscapes to lush forests and traditional villages.
The trail passes through rhododendron and pine forests while offering occasional views of the snow-covered peaks behind us. We also cross several streams and suspension bridges before reaching the villages lower in the valley.
By afternoon, we arrive at Tilije, a charming mountain village known for its traditional stone houses and warm hospitality. After checking into our tea house, enjoy a relaxing evening as we celebrate the completion of the trekking portion of our journey.
Today, we leave the mountains behind and begin our return journey to Kathmandu. A shared jeep takes us from Tilije to Besisahar, passing through beautiful valleys, rivers, waterfalls, and traditional villages.
From Besisahar, we continue by road to Kathmandu, enjoying the drive back to the capital. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to your hotel, where you can freshen up and relax.
In the evening, join us for a traditional farewell dinner as we celebrate the successful completion of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. You will also receive your Manaslu Circuit Trek Completion Certificate in recognition of this remarkable achievement.
Today marks the end of your unforgettable Manaslu Circuit adventure. Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out.
Our team will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport in time for your onward flight. If you wish to extend your stay in Nepal or join another adventure, our team will be happy to assist you.
Thank you for choosing Summit Calling for your Manaslu Circuit Trek. We hope to welcome you again on another unforgettable Himalayan adventure. Safe travels!
Trek Difficulty
The Manaslu Circuit Trek is ideal for trekkers with a good level of physical fitness who are looking for a rewarding high-altitude adventure. While no technical climbing or mountaineering experience is required, the trek involves several consecutive days of walking at high altitude, making it more demanding than many of Nepal's popular trekking routes. During the trek, you will typically walk 5 to 8 hours per day, with the longest day being the crossing of Larkya La Pass (5,160 m), which can take 8 to 9 hours. The trail includes forest paths, rocky mountain trails, suspension bridges, alpine terrain, and gradual ascents and descents. We recommend preparing with regular walking, hiking, stair climbing, or cardio exercises for a few weeks before your trek. Good physical preparation will help you enjoy the journey more comfortably.
